The NBA trade deadline is fast approaching with now under a month until the deadline arrives. A lot of teams are looking to make upgrades to gear up for playoff runs and one of those teams will be the Phoenix Suns. Thought to be sellers at one point, the now surging Suns are in the playoff hunt and are looking to be major players at the trade deadline.

Last night we heard a report from Adrian Wojnarowski that the Suns will be looking to trade Emeka Okafor for a veteran, but that veteran player may end up being more solid than we think. As CBS Sports’ Matt Moore points out, the Suns have not only Okafor to use at the deadline, they have a plethora of picks as well.

"The Suns have six first round picks over the next two years, four in this upcoming draft. Four! They also have $5 million in cap space to play with, so add in Okafor’s massive expiring deal, and the Suns could be major players at the deadline."

This doesn’t mean the Suns will go nuts at the deadline, but we doubted them once already this season and it’s clear that they have the arsenal to unload picks to secure a major player that boosts their playoff chances significantly.
