Grizzlies’ Mike Conley says they have confidence again
By Ryan Donoho
The Grizzlies were 17-19, looking up at the playoff teams in the West, and looked like they were going to have a disappointing season two weeks ago. Now, they have gone 6-1 in their last 7 games, and they look a lot like the Memphis Grizzlies from last year. They are defending better, and now that they have Marc Gasol back, they could be seeing themselves in the playoffs.
Many questioned new head coach David Joerger earlier this season, but those questions seem foolish now. They have gotten great contributions from guys like James Johnson and Courtney Lee, and when Tony Allen gets back from injury, they could see an even bigger rise in their play.
So what do the players think? It seems as if they have their confidence again. “Our confidence is back,” point guard Mike Conley said via The Commercial Appeal. “We believe we’re a good team. We believe we can beat anybody. We kind of lost that. But everybody feels comfortable again and we’re playing hard.” He’s right, and Conley has had one of the best seasons of his career.
The Suns and Mavericks are now on the clock, the Grizzlies are coming for their spots in the playoffs.
