For NFL players, film study is one of the biggest aspects of preparation that can set you up for success. However, for Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman, film isn’t needed to remember certain tendencies and calls from the past.

According to Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, Sherman has extreme recall and his mental prowess allowed him to become one of the top cornerbacks in the league.

“He’s got extreme recall,” Quinn said, via NFL.com. “Formations, plays and information from this game, last season, last week. And he can recall it fast.

“My first experience with that was when we were getting ready to play Carolina in the opener, and he said, ‘Last year, thisthis and this.’ Without even getting into the game plan that week, he had some formations and alerts that he remembered already.”

With his ability to quickly remember everything that is developing in front of him, Sherman can jump routes and get into positions that allow him to make the huge plays that we have grown used to seeing.

“I think the mental quickness for him, when he sees information, he can transfer it so quickly, almost like a quarterback who has that kind of quickness,” said Quinn.
