The NFL Draft is now the focus of almost every team in the NFL and this May will see the Houston Texans make another big decision with the No. 1 overall pick. The last time they owned the pick, they went with a solid player over the popular player and that seems to be where they’re leaning again in 2014.

According to Russ Lande, the Houston Texans are leaning towards taking UCF quarterback Blake Bortles and not Texas A&M star Johnny Manziel.

"According to trusted sources, the Texans are initially leaning towards taking either Blake Bortles or Johnny Manziel with the top pick. Although Manziel would obviously be the choice of owner Bob McNair, O’Brien is not sold that Manziel possesses the work ethic and intangibles necessary to be the face of a franchise."

It’s been pretty clear that the Texans will be taking a quarterback with their first pick which means Manziel was in the conversation for obvious reasons. But Bortles has started to emerge as the leader of the quarterback class this year and the Texans having interest in him over Manziel is starting to become less and less surprising.
