If they gave out an award for drama surrounding a player’s recruitment, 5-star defensive end Malik McDowell would probably have it locked up.
Of course, he has nothing to do with it. It is his parents who have caused the drama.
McDowell, who goes to Southfield High School in Detroit, Michigan, appears like he wants to player for the Michigan State Spartans, but his parents want him to leave the state.
On Tuesday during an interview with FM 105.1 in Detroit, an ESPN affiliate, McDowell’s mother explained her problems with Michigan State (yes, his mother is actually doing radio interviews).
McDowell's mother: "I don't think I should have to put anyone at Michigan State on blast about what happened. They know what happened."

She says if "everyone knew the truth" they would better understand why she was so involved.

The rumor is that an MSU staffer pulled Malik aside, told him he was now a man and it needed to be his decision. Mom didn't like that.

Also rumors swirling that McDowell was told by MSU player he didn't have to go to class. Recruiting drama, y'all.

McDowell's mother confirms he will sign tomorrow.

"I do not want him to go to Michigan State ... and I'm OK with the other three schools (OSU, UM, FSU)."

She's actually pretty funny. "I'll have to kiss Dantonio's ass if he picks Michigan State."

This is just complete insanity.
However, since McDowell himself doesn’t seem high on the Wolverines, it looks like either the Seminoles or Buckeyes will be very happy tomorrow.
