The San Francisco 49ers were just a touchdown away from reaching the Super Bowl for the second year in a row. It’s clear that this team, besides the Seattle Seahawks, are still a huge threat in the NFC. Now while they’re evaluating their roster to see who can help them reach the NFC Championship game for the fourth year in a row.
San Francisco made a huge trade last year that brought Super Bowl champion Anquan Boldin on board. It was a great deal by that 49ers front office, knowing they would be missing Michael Crabtree for awhile. They were clearly the winner out of the deal after Boldin recorded his first regular season game with the team.
He had that huge 200 yard receiving game against the Green Bay Packers to open up the 2013 campaign. This year Boldin broke 1,000 yards for the first time since the 2010 season. He also matched his 2010 touchdown total (7), his first year with the Baltimore Ravens after moving on from the Arizona Cardinals.
Now he’s a free agent and will be receiving interest from multiple teams across the league if the San Francisco 49ers decide to let him go. And if they do, they’ll regret it. But according to CSN Bay Area, free agent Anquan Boldin could be a strong candidate to start opposite of Michael Crabtree in 2014.
Quinton Patton could be competing for a number three role this year, so re-signing Boldin will make him a solid lock to become their number three receivers.
