The Cleveland Cavaliers fired their general manager on Thursday, thus prompting fans everywhere to assume that the team is going to drastically alter its roster to try and make things work in the second half of the season.
One such trade might be for Golden State Warriors studs David Lee or Harrison Barnes. Warriors beat writer Tim Kawakami suggests that Golden State could part ways with one of the players since the team wouldn’t be decimated as a result.
"Neither is irreplaceable–the Warriors can afford to trade either one without causing a huge drop-off if they get the right players back … The Cavs have an interesting assortment of players who just don’t work together, just fired GM Chris Grant, and thought they were building for a playoff run this season and it all blew up. This is a perilous time for them, yes it is."
The Cavs seem to overvalue their players though, something that could hold any potential deadline deal up. But that might have been the Chris Grant way of doing things and the new regime might be more receptive to giving up a big piece without requiring too much in return.
