The Dallas Mavericks think that they’re contenders in the Westner Conference this year and their record reflects that in the standings. One reason the Mavs have been so good over recent years has been the play of Dirk Nowitzki, who has been a stud for them, even heaping to bring a title to Dallas.

But the questions about his future with the team have led some to become nervous about how much longer Dirk will be in a Mavs uniform. He addressed his contract situation recently and, according to the Boston Globe, seems ready to sign a two-year extension before playing year-by-year.

This is news that Mavs and their fans will be happy to hear, as there hasn’t been a staple in Dallas quite like Dirk and having him around for at least tow more years means the team will stay in the thick of the playoff hunt for years to come.
