The Baltimore Orioles surfaced as potential suitors for free agent starting pitcher Ervin Santana, but not much else was made of their interest at the time. A week later, we’re starting to hear more and more about the Orioles interest in Santana, which has gone from just kicking the tires to having an aggressive approach to signing him.

According to MLB writer Chris Cotillo, the Orioles will become more aggressive in their pursuit of both Ervin Santana and Ubaldo Jimenez.

Baltimore will only be signing one of the two, but both pitchers have found it hard to get work this offseason. With Matt Garza setting the market, both pitchers are being forced to bring their prices down. Santana was reluctant at first but appears ready to lower his price for a team, and that team may end up being the Baltimore Orioles.
