The Washington Wizards are 25-25 but their record isn’t an accurate representation of just where they are in the Eastern Conference. Despite an average record, the Wizards are sitting in the fifth seed and are just a game behind the Toronto Raptors for the third seed in the East.

Washington is also chasing the Atlanta hawks for second place in the Southeast which means big things are happening for the Wizards. This surge in winning has the team looking at trades at the deadline and while they covet Greg Monroe, they’re also looking at a backup point guard to play behind John Wall.

Per Marc J. Spears:

"Washington will try to acquire a backup point guard before the trade deadline, a source said, but isn’t optimistic the Wizards can make such a move."

It’s clear that Washington wants to make a move, the only problem seems to be finding a team to make a deal with. While they’re far from a lock to make a deal at the deadline, Washington is a team to watch as they rise to the top of the Eastern Conference in the most improbable of ways.
