The Boston Celtics were one of the first teams to be involved in the trade rumor frenzy when they got mixed up in Omer Asik trade rumors with the Houston Rockets. Nothing ever came from those rumors but the Celtics have been mentioned in a slew of trade rumors since then with most including either Rajon Rondo or Jeff Green.

With the playoffs likely out of reach this season, the Celtics are looking to build for the future but want to do so fast. This is why it’s no surprise that Sam Amico from FOX Sports reports Danny Ainge and the Celtics would like to not trade Rondo or Green and instead build around the two as well as big man Jared Sullinger.

"Most executives contacted by FOX Sports Ohio say it seems more and more likely that Ainge and coach Brad Stevens want to build around point guard Rajon Rondo, forward Jeff Green and second-year big man Jared Sullinger, the reigning Eastern Conference Player of the Week."

The Knicks are hot on Rondo, but there’s no saying the Celtics will trade him. They need to find a way to extend him but at the moment it sounds like the team is content with not making a trade and seeing what they can do with Rondo and Green working together.
