The Orlando Magic are sort of an enigma as we near the NBA trade deadline. While they’re clearly tanking in order to get a top lottery pick, they’ve experienced a winning streak that throws their tanking plan slightly off track. They also appear to be in the trade market but aren’t inclined to make a trade before the deadline, which has fans confused as to what’s going on.

Trying to understand the Magic’s front office requires years of scientific study, but the reason they may be so wishy-washy on the trade market may be because no one wants what they’re selling. According to Steve Kyler from Basketball Insiders, the Magic are shopping guys like Glen ‘Big Baby’ Davis and Jameer Nelson, but are unwilling to take back certain considerations in trades.

"There are a couple of players that Orlando would be open to moving, the top candidate is Glen “Big Bay” Davis. However, there seems to be virtually no trade market for Davis on his own. … The veteran teams that could use Nelson are so close to or already over the luxury tax line that unless Orlando takes back something long-term, most deals are unworkable."

Orlando isn’t inclined to make a trade, which means they likely won’t. Still, it’s clear that they could possibly make a trade if they decided they wanted to take on certain returns that they don’t seem to high on.
