Derek Jeter announced yesterday that he was retiring after the 2014 season and would officially be ending his baseball career as a player. It’s truly the end of an era as Jeter has been more than just a staple for the Yankees, he’s been a staple across baseball.
With Jeter retiring, tickets for his last game at Yankee Stadium have skyrocketed in price, with the average cost now clocking in at over $1,100.
From http://t.co/68xvWAbqo2: Current avg. ticket price for Jeter's last home game now at $1,112, an increase of 265% since his announcement.

This is not at all surprising given the fact that the Yankees usually have outrageously expensive tickets, but also because Jeter’s last game will be a historic moment. You can bet that when Ken Burns updates his Baseball documentary, he is going to devote half a show to Jeter and how he’s a modern legend.
There have been few like Jeter to play this game, and sons and fathers have bonded all over baseball while watching him play. He’s going to be missed and it’s going to cost you a pretty penny to capture his final game at Yankee Stadium live.
It most likely will be worth every penny though.
