The Phoenix Suns have been the surprise of the league thus far. With a record of 30-21, the Suns are currently the seventh seed in the Western Conference.

The Suns have been rumored to be interested in acquiring a big name player like Cleveland Cavaliers’ forward Luol Deng or Memphis Grizzlies’ power forward Zach Randolph.

Although those deals seems unlikely, they’d clearly like to make a move to solidify their status as a playoff team in the ultra competitive Western Conference.

According to Ken Berger of CBS Sports, the Suns’ rumors aren’t just smoke.

"Suns GM Ryan McDonough has informed inquiring teams over the past few weeks that if Phoenix is still in the playoff hunt at the break, he will be aggressive in the trade market in an attempt to push the team into the postseason. The Suns hit the break in the seventh spot in the West, but one rival executive says Phoenix will not take parting with draft picks lightly and isn’t interested in taking on future salary. At least one of those conditions would have to change to turn the Suns’ aggressive posture into an actual trade."

The Suns will certainly be one of the teams to watch going into Thursday’s trade deadline.
