St. Louis Rams cornerback Cortland Finnegan had a 2013 season he would like to forget after his play saw a rapid decline before injuries ended his season after appearing in only seven games. If Finnegan hopes to make up for his dismal 2013 season in St. Louis, he’s going to need to take a “sizable pay cut” according to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport.
Cortland Finnegan looked slower last year. He’ll need to show up ready. But cutting him saves $4M vs. the cap. Pay cut could save them more

Baltimore Ravens outside linebacker/defensive end Terrell Suggs restructured his deal on Monday and Rapoport sees a parallel between the Suggs deal and the situation Finnegan and the Rams find themselves in.
Suggs deal shows if both sides want a deal to happen, it can. Related: Thought Rams would cut Finnegan ($10M cap). Not if he accepts pay cut

At 30 years old and coming off a poor season that ended because of injury, Finnegan may find a pay cut from teh Rams is a more preferable option than hitting the free agent market.
