The Philadelphia Eagles are expected to have interest in re-signing free agent wide receiver Riley Cooper, but they may need to move quickly and lock him up before the start of free agency or they will run the risk of losing one of their top receiving options.
According to Profootballtalk.com, a league source says that Cooper is expected to be in “significant demand” if he hits the free agent market.
Cooper had career highs in catches, yards, and touchdowns in 2014, so he is continuing to get better at just 26 years old. He is a big-bodied receiver that complements DeSean Jackson on the outside, but the Eagles may need to look elsewhere if his price tag gets too high.
One way the Eagles could make up for the loss of Cooper would be by re-signing Jeremy Maclin.
While Maclin is a dynamic receiver who is also preparing to enter free agency, he will be coming off of a torn ACL and his price tag could be more affordable to the team than making a play to keep Cooper in the City of Brotherly Love.
