The beginning of the end of an era for New York Yankee fans will take place on Wednesday when Derek Jeter officially heads to the podium to talk about his upcoming retirement.

The press conference will be shown here, live on MLB.com.

Although Jeter only made the announcement that he was retiring after this season about a week ago, he said he has known for a while.

"“The one thing I always said to myself was that when baseball started to feel more like a job, it would be time to move forward,” Jeter said. “So really, it was months ago when I realized that this season would likely be my last.”"

Jeter has received high praise from current and former baseball players since the announcement was made, including Jorge Posada.

“It was an honor and privilege to have Derek next to me for all those years,” said Posada. “He made me a better player and a better person. I’m so proud of our friendship and I love him like a brother. Derek was a true champion and the greatest teammate I ever had.”
