The Pittsburgh Steelers have been rumored to be targeting a tall wide receiver in the first-round of the 2014 NFL Draft in order to give Ben Roethlisberger a nice target in the redzone, but they are also expected to show interest in bringing back a reliable receiver from a year ago.
During a Steelers chat with Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Bouchette was asked about which of the team’s veterans could be re-signing in the offseason and one of the first names mentioned was Jerricho Cotchery.
Last season, Cotchery quietly had ten touchdown catches out of the slot.
Cotchery is aging and will not be a long-term fix in Pittsburgh, but he could be a stop gap player and mentor while whatever young receivers the Steelers bring in adapt to the speed of the NFL.
