The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been looking at ways to make their roster better in 2014 and one way they could do that is to apparently add a new quarterback. Now, there’s a difference between adding a new quarterback to replace you current one and adding a quarterback to compete. It appears that the Buccaneers are looking for the latter this offseason.
According to the Tampa Bay Times, the Bucs are looking at adding another quarterback to compete with Mike Glennon in training camp.
"“In an ideal world, you would like to have some kind of a veteran in the mix instead of three young guys that haven’t played a lot,’’ Smith said. “I think you can maybe get away with it at some of the other positions, but it’s not ideal (at quarterback).’’"
It doesn’t appear as though the Buccaneers will again draft a quarterback, unless a scenario where a top prospect slips them in the first-round. Michael Vick, Matt Schaub and Josh McCown are all names who have been mentioned in rumors about the Bucs and it’s likely that one of those veterans finds a home in Tampa this March.
