The defensive backs have taken the field at Lucas Oil Stadium for the 2014 NFL Scouting Combine and one of the top players in the draft class has already delivered the performance that everyone was waiting for.

On his first attempt at the 40-yard dash, Michigan State’s Darqueze Dennard ran an “unofficial” time of 4.42 seconds. His 10-yard split was 1.60 seconds.

The big concern for Dennard entering the day was his long speed, but he erased all of those concerns with his great time.

On his second attempt, Dennard clocked a time of 4.46.

With top end speed, impressive technique, and willingness to tackle, Dennard has solidified himself as a top fifteen pick and potentially the No. 1 cornerback in the entire draft class. It would not be a surprise to see him sneak into the top ten.
