The New York Knicks are in a sticky situation with star Carmelo Anthony as the team continues to slide and the prospects of returning continue to look grim sot Melo. Still, he’s been open — at least privately — about a willingness to take less money on his new contract in order to allow the Knicks to sign some top free agents, something that has impressed LeBron James.

James has spoke about Melo’s situation in the past, as he’s clearly watching from afar, and he’s chimed in yet again. According to Marc Berman of The New York Post, James says that Melo’s willingness to take less when he doesn’t have to, shows how badly he wants to win.

Per Berman:

"“What I got out of it is, he wants to win. Everyone says they want to win, but that’s what it’s about. I don’t worry about their franchise. I worry about Carmelo Anthony. I always want him to win and succeed. Obviously he’s been playing great basketball. I don’t like seeing him lose like they’ve been losing, but I really don’t care about the franchise.’’"

This may now lead Knicks fans to think that LeBron could come to New York, as he’s been watching the situation awfully closely and there now appears to be more money opening up with Melo willing to take less. The chances are slim, but other free agents around the NBA have to be thinking the same thing as LeBron is.
