While the San Francisco 49ers aren’t looking for a quarterback right at this moment, hey, Colin Kaepernick reportedly is asking for over $18 million per year, so looking at some youngsters might be a safe bet and that’s exactly what head coach Jim Harbaugh did at Northwestern’s Pro Day with Eastern Illinois signal caller, Jimmy Garoppolo.
Harbaugh not only gave a look, but he made sure that he got a good closeup by going through a private session with the rapidly rising quarterback.
Again, this could really mean nothing other than Harbaugh is curious about the young man, but with a potential negotiating failure ahead in the future with Kaepernick, it’s always good to keep the options open.
Garoppolo went from virtual unknown to a star in this year’s Draft class after his performances in the East-West Shrine Game, Senior Bowl and the most recent NFL Scouting Combine.
If he falls away from that projected second round, a trip out to the Bay Area may soon be in his future.
