Late Wednesday night, the Denver Broncos and veteran defensive back Champ Bailey decided that it would more than likely be in each others best interest to part ways, as the AFC Champions released the former Georgia star, sending him to the free agent market for the first time in his career.
Afterward, Bailey expressed to USA TODAY that he’s not going to dwell on the negative, rather he’s going to look at being a free agent in a positive light.
"“I’m good. It’s bittersweet. Now I get to go see what is out there,” Bailey told USA TODAY Sports on Wednesday evening. “I’m looking at the positive side of it.”"
But still, that doesn’t mean that he doesn’t sort of hate the thought of leaving the team that he nearly won his first Super Bowl ring with.
"“It sucks, but at the same time, I have to move on. I can’t dwell on it. I know they’re not dwelling on it,” Bailey said."
At 35-years-old, Bailey still does want to play, although his options may be more limited than they would have been earlier in his career. Still, any team looking for either a little boost in their secondary, leadership on their team, or both will be getting the right man for the job.
