Vancouver Whitecaps Player Ratings
David Ousted 6
This wasn’t much about him, and he would have had a 7 if he had a shutout. But he got the win, and that’s all that matted. Three saves.
Jay DeMerit 6
Six clearances, five interceptions and four recoveries. Not a lot of passing or razzle dazzle from DeMerit.
Jordan Harvey 5.5
Five recoveries, two interceptions and 34 successful passes. Does get a deductions for nine unsuccessful passses and two unsuccessful crosses.
Steven Beitashour 6.5
The 16 unsuccessful passes knocked his score down a nitch, but the former San Jose Earthquakes had seven clearances and six recoveries.
Andy O’Brien 5.5
Nine clearances and four interceptions, but a 66 percent pass success rate on 21 touches.
Matias Laba 7
Seven recoveries, four interceptions, four clearances, 41 successful passes and a through ball. A main objective for Laba this year is to gel with Nigel Reo-Coker. That will come in time but in the meantime, this was a decent debut.
Sebastian Fernandez 8.5
Three recoveries, great two way play and a potential Goal of the Week. Great intros deserve great ratings. Only thing that needs work are the crosses.
Kenny Miller 10
Man of the Match for a solid brace, excellent spot kick composure and leadership in the midfield. Also had four recoveries. Flick-ons will need work, but that can be put aside for now.
Nigel Reo-Coker 9
Solid showing from a man of experience, with nine recoveries, 31 successful passes and trademark box-to-box play. He was only picking up from where he left off last year. That’s all.
Russell Teibert 7
Seven recoveries and 35 successful passes but a number of close calls, five unsuccessful crosses and 11 unsuccessful passes sully this rating a bit.
Darren Mattocks 4.5
Where was Darren Mattocks this game? His 65 minutes were a waste, making just two shots on target and lacking any punch in the attack. While Miller was on a hotstreak, Mattocks was on a coldstreak, and when he was subbed for Morales, the tables would be turned in Vancouver’s favor.
Pedro Morales 7
This super sub comes off the bench and also delivers a strong introduction with a goal and an assist. Chilean pride on showcase at B.C. Place. It makes your heart race.
Nicolas Mezquida 4
By the time Mezquida made his debut, the outcome was already set in stone. He had two recoveires and two tackles won but not much after that.
Kekuta Manneh NR
Came into the game late, no rating given.
