The Detroit Lions are looking for ways to improve their roster from last year and it seems that they’re just a few players away from being serious contenders in the NFC. One player that appears to be on their radar is top safety free agent T.J. Ward.
According to Ian Rapoport from NFL Network, the Detroit Lions have interest in Ward and that’s a pretty significant thing.

Ward joining the Lions would be huge fr Detroit as it would add a home run free agent signing that instantly upgrades their secondary. With the loss of Louis Delmas this offseason, the Lions have a need for a safety and they don’t get much better than Ward this offseason.
Adding a safety through the draft could be an option, but adding Ward is an immediate upgrade. The only issue is finding the cash to add Ward, but if they can it might be a signing that helps turn them around in 2014.
