We’re still not entirely sure what will happen between the Dallas Cowboys and star defensive end DeMarcus Ware, but reportedly we will know within the next 24 hours whether the team will decide to cut their veteran star–and unquestioned best defensive player–or pay him.
According to Pro Football Talk and Mike Florio, a decision from the team should come some time on Tuesday before 4 PM and the Free Agency flood gates open up.
"Per a source with knowledge of the situation, a resolution is expected soon. Ideally, it’ll come by 4:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday."
This has been the most challenging decision for Jerry Jones and the Cowboys organization in quite some time, because of the financial ramifications as Florio explained.
"Cutting Ware with a post-June 1 designation would result in $3.25375 million in dead money for 2014, along with another $5.31775 million in 2015. Cutting Ware without the post-June 1 designation would result in $8.5715 million hitting the cap in 2014."
This situation between Ware and the Cowboys has been one of the more closely watched of this Free Agency period, and it seems that everything will be coming to a head very shortly.
