When the Philadelphia Eagles let go of veteran wide receiver Jason Avant last week, some thought it was a no-brainer that the Kansas City Chiefs would come calling and a reunion with Andy Reid might be in the cards. Well, those people may have been absolutely correct.

Back in 2006, Reid drafted Avant to the Philadelphia Eagles after a standout career with the Michigan Wolverines. During his seven years with Reid and the Eagles, he was one of the more reliable targets for the current Chiefs coach and prospered in the offense.

Avant would be a perfect addition to an already potent Chiefs offense like we saw last year. He could line up both in the slot and on the outside, although in the seven years together, Reid was more comfortable with Avant running routes from the inside.

Whether or not the Chiefs will pull the trigger on the move remains to be seen, but it wouldn’t be the worst acquisition in the world, that’s for sure.
