There hasn’t been a whole lot of public tampering with free agents this weekend but there are teams that are starting to reach out to players with less than a day between now and the official start of free agency.
One of those players is Josh McCown, and it appears that e’s starting to acknowledge a little more openly the possibility of not returning to Chicago in 2014.
McCown: 'If I leave Chicago, that's the opportunity (to be a starter) that I'm looking for."
— Jeff Dickerson (@DickersonESPN) March 10, 2014
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New York Jets and Houston Texans are teams that Dickerson believes have reached out to McCown and all three teams make a lot of sense. McCown would be going into a potential starting situation with former head coach Lovie Smith in Tampa Bay and could easily be the starter for all of 2014 in Houston and New York.
He may still return to Chicago — which is what he wants to do — but it’s starting to look like McCown is preparing for an inevitable exit.
