The Minnesota Vikings may not have entered too far into tampering waters this weekend but they did manage to spend a decent amount of money. Minnesota brought back defensive end Everson Griffin on Sunday, signing him to a long-term extension.

While the move protects the Vikings against hurting too badly from Jared Allen deciding to not come back, it also seems to take them out of the running to land Michael Johnson. According to Ben Goessling from ESPN, this isn’t a bad thing, as the Vikings are now making cornerback their free agent priority.

Minnesota’s secondary has been just awful in recent years and the team needs an upgrade badly. Alterraun Verner has been a name connected to the Vikings for a long time and it now appears they may definitely make a push for him now more than ever.
