The Denver Broncos pulled the biggest surprise of the opening day of NFL free agency when they signed cornerback Aqib Talib to a gigantic six-year, $57 million deal.

Perhaps nobody was more surprised than Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, who seemed all but a certainty to re-sign in Denver. Negotiations between the two sides were supposedly ongoing, but with Talib in the fold the Broncos have withdrawn their offer to Rodgers-Cromartie. Per Mike Klis of the Denver Post:

There is good news for DRC as he is sent shopping, as Talib just seriously drove up the price for corners. Darrelle Revis probably doesn’t mind either. In the end DRC’s stint in Denver ends up being only one year in which he re-established his value, something he did very well on a mediocre defense.
