The Chicago Bears were listed as a team that could be interested in Jared Allen, but those reports seem to have misled a few fans. While there may be behind-the-scenes interest in Allen, Jeff Dickerson from ESPNChicago states that interest in Allen may be overblown, at least at the moment.
The market for Allen appears to be shrinking, as the Seahawks haven’t met with him and the Broncos gave his contract to DeMarcus Ware. Chicago makes sense for Allen, but the interest doesn’t seem to be there at the moment.
That’s not to say interest won’t spring up, but Chicago spent big on Lamarr Houston and are adding other positions of need. They’ll likely continue to fill all their positions of need before circling back and considering Allen again — as it seems he’ll probably be there.
