There’s a very good chance that, in less than two months, the Houston Texans will choose to beef up their defense with their number one overall pick by taking South Carolina DE Jadeveon Clowney. And if it was up to current Texans defensive back Johnathan Joseph, he would love for that to be the case.

"“Obviously, I would like for him to go number one, just because he’s a friend of mine,” Joseph said. “He’s a great talent. But it’s not my call. Not my decision to make. … If we took a guy like him, he could make big dividends for this defense, with J.J. Watt.”"

Joseph, who also is a South Carolina product, has known Clowney since he was a young child, which also helps. The ties are there, meaning that if the Texans were to take Clowney, he would be in a comfortable environment playing on the same defense as Joseph.

Again, all of this depends on where the Texans want to take a quarterback. It’s all but guaranteed at this point that new head coach Bill O’Brien will take one, the only question is at what spot.
