The New England Patriots made a big splash when they reportedly signed Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback to a one-year, $12 million deal. Well turns out there is a second year in the deal, amounting to two-years and $32 million.
Breakdown of Revis' deal: He gets $10 million to sign, $1.5 million base salary, $500,000 in per-game roster bonuses up to 15 games for '14.

In 2015, he has a $12 million roster bonus due of 4/1/15, payable if his option is exercised by end of '14 league year. $7.5M base for '15.

Because there's the option on Revis' deal, I believe that splits his cap hit, and makes his cap hit $6.5 million for 2014.

Revis' '15 club option: $20 million. A $12M roster bonus (due 4/1/15), $7.5M base, $500K in per-game bonuses, up to 15 games ($333K/game).

So the Patriots didn't give on the franchise-tag provision, which is a precedent thing with them. But logistically, they can't tag him.

Sorry. Obviously, I meant $33K. RT @adquinn615 @AlbertBreer How does 333k in per-game bonuses for 15 games = 500k?
— Albert Breer (@AlbertBreer) March 13, 2014
The per-game bonuses are counted on the cap. So Darrelle Revis' cap number for 2014 will be $7 million, with $5 million to carry into '15.

Calling the Revis deal a 2-year, $32M contract is misleading. His cap number for '15 would be $25 million. It's really a 1-year, $12M deal.
