After signing Eric Decker to a massiv contract and after hearing that the team has serious interest in drafting Marqise Lee, the New York Jets are continuing their push to get better offensively and have signed former Detroit Lions tight end Brandon Pettigrew.
Jets beat writer Manish Mehta reports that a deal is in place and should be signed by Pettigrew before the day is through.
I'm told free-agent TE Brandon Pettigrew will have a deal in place with a team shortly. #nyj

Pettigrew looked like he might be back on the Lions roster in 2014 but his price seemed a bit too steep for the Lions’ taste. he also wasn’t the weapon Detroit hoped he’d become, but the Jets believe they can utilize him in the correct manner.
Either way, the Jets are clearly trying to get better offensively and by adding Decker and Pettigrew, and with the looming possibility of adding the USC Trojans standout Marqise Lee, New York might take a giant leap forward in 2014.
