Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker LaMarr Woodley was dreaming about potentially going to his hometown Detroit Lions during free agency. Eventually he signed with the Oakland Raiders but it wasn’t because of Woodley.

He says that he tried calling the Lions and was willing to give them a discount, but they didn’t return his phone calls.

From CBS Detroit:

"LaMarr Woodley wanted to come home so badly that he was willing to give the Lions the home town discount. Instead, he said his calls to the team went unreturned."

It is interesting that the Lions didn’t even return his phone call, makes you wonder if he dialed the right number. Of course the Lions probably weren’t interested in bringing in a linebacker with declining skills for the feel good story. They’re trying to fix some deficiencies to get atop the NFC North.

Still, the Lions could have politely declined and answered the phone.
