Although the Washington Redskins made a big run at former Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ offensive tackle Donald Penn, Penn did what most predicted he would do as soon as he was released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and has signed with the Oakland Raiders, according to Albert Breer of the NFL Network.
The signing makes a lot of sense for both sides. Although the Raiders signed Austin Howard away from the New York Jets, they clearly still had a need up front.
For Penn, it’s a return home.
Penn attended Utah State, but is originally from Los Angeles, California. Penn went undrafted in 2006 and signed with the Minnesota Vikings, but was released and soon joined the Buccaneers. Penn eventually became a starter, even making the Pro Bowl in 2011 as an alternate.
Penn was released by the Buccaneers last week.
