Timberwolves at Mavericks final score: Kevin Love hits game winner in 123-122 OT victory
Minnesota Timberwolves’ power forward Kevin Love did it again.
Love hit an 11-foot jumper with 17 seconds to play in overtime and Dirk Nowitzki missed a 17-footer at the buzzer as the Timberwolves defeated the Dallas Mavericks 123-122 at the American Airlines Arena in Dallas, Texas Wednesday night.
Love finished with 35 points on 11-of-20 shooting from the field and 11-of-14 shooting from the charity stripe, pulled down eight rebounds and dished out three assists.
Although they pulled off the victory, the Timberwolves made it much more difficult than it had to be. They held a 107-94 lead with just 6:48 to play, but the Mavericks went on a 19-4 run, capped by three straight made three-pointers by Monta Ellis, to take a two-point lead. Ricky Rubio drew a foul with 50 seconds to play and knocked down both free throws. Neither team scored on their next possession.
Rubio was absolutely fantastic, posting a triple double with 22 points, 15 assists and 10 rebounds while Kevin Martin added 19 points and Gorgui Dieng had 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Nowitzki led the Mavericks with 27 points. Monta Ellis added 22 points, six rebounds and four assists and Shawn Marion chipped in 16 points, 11 rebounds and five assists.
The Timberwolves are now 34-32 and the Mavericks are 41-28.
