NBA Rumors: Milwaukee Bucks not close to being sold to new owners
By Josh Hill
If you’re in the market for buying ownership of an NBA team, the Milwaukee Bucks are your only public option at the moment. The Bucks have been looking for new investors since December, and the feeling its hat current owner Herb Kohl will be moving on from the team int he near future — possibly even this summer.
But while there are hints that the team will be under new ownership soon, nothing is yet imminent. According to business journalist Rich Kirchen, the Bucks are attracting plenty of interest from potential investors, but none are yet close enough to say a deal is going to happen soon.
Per the Milwaukee Business Jounral
"Herb Kohl’s efforts to attract new investors for the Milwaukee Bucks are progressing well with “a considerable amount of interest” from prospective buyers both locally and nationally, but a deal is not expected soon, according to a source who is knowledgeable in the professional sports industry."
Kohl has owned the team since 1985 and he purchased the team to make sure they stay in Milwaukee. That’s why this process has ben so interesting, as it seems Kohl is only interested in local buyers or buyers looking to keep the team local.
This summer should see more action take place, but for now the Bucks are being sold to anyone — yet.
