The Cincinnati Bengals have signed former Green Bay Packers offensive lineman Marshall Newhouse, according to Adam Schefter.
Newhouse, 25, appeared in 15 games last season but only made two starts. He brings versatility to the Bengals offensive line where he can play either right or left tackle and has experience as a guard. Combined with his youth, this is a very nice signing that should pay immediate dividends for quarterback Andy Dalton and running back Giovani Bernard.
At 6-3, 326-pounds, his best position may be on the right side where he can fill the void left by Anthony Collins who signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He started all 16 games at left tackle in 2011, protecting the blindside of Aaron Rodgers, so he could challenge Andrew Whitworth for the starting left tackle spot in training camp and the preseason, but either way, it makes the Bengals line better no matter the side he’s on.
