Friday afternoon, in a move that most saw coming on the horizon, the New York Jets cut ties with their former franchise quarterback, Mark Sanchez, before he was due his roster bonus. So now, no matter what you happen to think of him, there is a quarterback on the market that has thee experience of two AFC Championship Games under his belt, so it’s not as if he’ll be blacklisted. He will definitely have his suitors.
According to Marc Sessler of NFL.com, those suitors for Sanchez’s services could be as follows:
1) St. Louis Rams
2) Buffalo Bills
3) Cleveland Browns
4) Buffalo Bills
All four of these franchises do have a need for someone with the experience of Sanchez, however the best case was made by Sessler for a move to St. Louis.
"The Rams make plenty of sense. St. Louis offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer coached Sanchez for three years in Florham Park, and the team could use a veteran backup behind Sam Bradford after Kellen Clemens signed with the Chargers. With Bradford coming off major knee surgery, Sanchez would provide a stable second option who already knows Schottenheimer’s scheme. Easily our top landing spot."
Again, Sanchez shouldn’t be on the market long, and it’ll be interesting to see whose QB competition he adds some intrigue to.
