Maurice Jones-Drew led the NFL in rushing with 1,606 yards in 2011, but two years and 1,217 yards later, the former fantasy football darling is finding it awfully difficult to find a job.
With rumors circulating that the Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots had joined the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Jets in pursuit of the former face of the Jacksonville Jaguars, it would have appeared that MJD would soon find a new home.
However, after the Dolphins and Patriots denied interest and the Steelers brought in LeGarrette Blount for a visit, his options are dwindling so much a source tells the New York Post’s Bart Hubbuch that the 29-year-old running back might be willing to wait until late in the summer or even into the season as an injury replacement if he doesn’t get better offers.
Jones-Drew is seeking $3 million per year and considering his age and mileage (1,804 career ), it’s highly unlikely any team will meet his asking price.
