After a lot of will he, won’t he drama surrounding the future of Kansas Jayhawks center Joel Embiid, a formal decision on whether or not he’ll be entering the NBA Draft this summer has been reached. According to Yahoo! Sports insider Adrian Wojnarowski, top prospect and potential No. 1 overall pick Embiid will be declaring for the NBA Draft this year and leaving Kansas to join the pros.

Per Woj:

"Kansas star Joel Embiid – a possible No. 1 overall choice – has decided to enter the June NBA draft, sources told Yahoo Sports. … A formal announcement on Embiid’s decision is expected soon. In the past week, Embiid has progressed in settling on agent representation, but no final decision has been made, sources said."

It was very unclear whether or not Embiid would be declaring for the draft or not, but his decision seems to have been reached. While his teammate Andrew Wiggins is currently the No. 1 overall pick in mostly every mock draft out there, Embiid’s back injury is what knocked him out of that slot.

Even though Kansas is done in March Madness, there is still time for Embiid to reclaim the No. 1 overall spot and at the very least he can expect to be a relatively high lottery pick in June.
