The Tennessee Titans are “very likely” to release former 2,000-yard rusher Chris Johnson next week, according to CBS Sports’ Jason LaCanfora.
Titans very likely to release RB Chris Johnson next week after failed trade attempts. Would draw strong interest as FA as DeSean Jackson did

Johnson has been a shell of himself since he ran for 2,006 yards in 2009, his second in the NFL after being taken in the first round out of East Carolina. Johnson has averaged 1,122 yards the last three seasons and is coming off a 1,077 yard season with a career-low 3.9 yards per carry average.
One potential landing spot for the former first round pick is the Atlanta Falcons, according to the Tennessean’s Jim Wyatt.
A lot of running backs starting to find landing places. My bet on where #Titans RB Chris Johnson eventually ends up: #Falcons

Johnson would form an interesting duo with Steven Jackson and bring a thunder and lighting element to the backfield. Both are well past their primes, but collectively could extend their careers and bring out the best of what’s left in their tanks.
