We have just two games left to determine who will be joining the Florida Gators and Wisconsin Badgers in the Final Four this year and both the Michigan State Spartans and UConn Huskies are hungry to be the ones to fill the slot. Should the Spartans win along with their instate rivals the Michigan Wolverines, it would mean that three of the Final Four teams are from the Big Ten, which is an unheard of feat for the conference.
But the UConn Huskies, who have plenty of history with the Final Four, are looking to get back in to the two biggest games of the college basketball season and reclaim some glory. Like the Kentucky Wildcats in the Midwest Region, the Huskies are getting hot at the right moment and that’s really all it takes in March to survive the Madness.
Obviously, you need to have intangibles as well and it seems that the Spartans are loaded with that thanks to stars like Adreian Payne, Gary Harris and others. But the Huskies can counter with one of the best backcourts in the tournament and Shabazz Napier is making a name for himself thanks to his big play on a huge stage.
What it will come down to is who can stay hot the longest and while Michigan State is the favorite and has a lot going for them, this ride that UConn is on hasn’t drained them enough that they’ll run out of fuel in the Elite Eight.
Prediction: UConn over Michigan State 75-70
