Former South Carolina Gamecocks defensive end Jadeveon Clowney has his pro day tomorrow and the Houston Texans, owners of the first pick, are going to be in attendance to see their potential first pick and head coach Bill O’Brien teased us with his idea for the freakishly talented prospect.
"“If we decide to draft this guy, we’re not just going to play him at one position,” he said, according to houstontexans.com. “We may start him off at one position but use him in a lot of different ways. He’s a unique talent but again, that’s if we draft him.”"
Clowney’s athleticism and skill-set could mean he lines up at either end position in Romeo Crennel’s 3-4 front, as a stand-up outside linebacker and perhaps along the interior of the line . The Texans would be looking for as many mismatches as possible with a rare talent like Clowney if they draft him.
The Texans certainly have a need at quarterback, but the idea of pairing Clowney with former J.J. Watt is a tempting option for the club as they look to get back to the playoffs after slumping last season.
