The Indiana Pacers are one of the best teams in basketball but for the first time all year long they’re now the second best team in their conference. Their recent woes have caused great concern among fans and analysts who are watching a team many though could be in the NBA Finals this year implode before our very eyes.
With the Heat now in the No. 1 seed, the Pacers are trying to figure out what is going wrong and are trying to unseat the Heat in the East. But while they may have been playing like a 1-seed earlier in the year, Roy Hibbert doesn’t believe the team deserves such an honor at the moment.
"“Good for them (the Heat),” Roy Hibbert said dourly. “We don’t deserve it. Good for them. Whoever we see in the playoffs, we’ll see, but we’ve got to figure things out … But we don’t deserve the No. 1 seed.”"
Getting the No. 2 seed does have its benefits though as the Pacers won’t have to go through the Nets or Bulls to get to the Conference Finals. They will have to play in Miami in meaningful games in the Conference Finals if they fail to secure the No. 1 seed, which may end up rendering the other benefits of the 2-seed irrelevant.
