NFL Rumors: Cowboys expected to re-sign Anthony Spencer
The Dallas Cowboys lost their two best defensive lineman after cutting DeMarcus Ware, who signed with the Denver Broncos, and losing Jason Hatcher to the rival Washington Redskins in free agency.
They did, however, sign Henry Melton away from the Chicago Bears.
ESPN’s Todd Archer did not expect the Cowboys to chase free agent safety Danieal Manning, who struck a deal with the Cincinnati Bengals, but does believe the team will wind up re-signing free agent defensive lineman Anthony Spencer.
"I don’t think you’ll see Danieal Manning here. He’s going to be 32. They don’t believe in signing a “progress stopper” right now. They believe they can find a guy over the summer if the spot requires it. They’re rolling with their young guys right now. As for Spencer, I think he comes back and I think it’s on a one-year deal. Nobody knows for sure when he will get on the field this summer, so he doesn’t have a lot of leverage."
Spencer played in just one game last season because of season-ending surgery.
