NFL Rumors: Marcus Spears to retire from NFL, join SEC Network
By Shaun Church
Former Dallas Cowboys first-round pick, defensive end Marcus Spears, will retire from the NFL and join the SEC Network as an analyst according to the network’s Twitter account.
Spears spent eight seasons with the Cowboys before signing with the Baltimore Ravens in 2013, where he spent his final season playing just five games before being waived. In his career, he tallied 10.0 sacks, 237 total tackles and three forced fumbles.
Early in his career, Spears was one of the premier run-stoppers in the NFL at his position, helping the Cowboys finish 12th in the league in opponent yards per carry between 2006 and ’08.
