Dallas Mavericks’ Dirk Nowitzki named Western Conference Player of the Week
With a playoff spot on the line, the Dallas Mavericks have played very well. They have won four of their last five games to take a half-game lead over the Phoenix Suns for the seventh spot and a 1.5 game lead over the Memphis Grizzlies for a playoff spot in the Western Conference.
As has been the case for the last 15 years, Dirk Nowitzki is leading the charge.
On Monday, the NBA rewarded Nowitzki for his play, naming him the league’s Western Conference Player of the Week.
"Nowitzki led the Mavericks to a 3-1 week, averaging 25.3 points (fourth in the conference) and 8.0 rebounds. He connected on 13-of-23 three-point attempts and his .565 shooting from behind the arc was good for seventh in the conference. On April 3, he had 26 points on 10-of-18 shooting and 11 rebounds to help the Mavericks to a 113-107 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers.April 1 vs. Golden State: Registered 33 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and two steals in 122-120 loss to the Warriors.April 3 @ L.A. Nowitzki is averaging 21.6 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game this season.
