The Houston Texans lost running back Ben Tate in free agency to the Cleveland Browns. To add a bit of depth at the position behind running back Arian Foster they’ve signed former New York Giant Andre Brown.

The deal isn’t necessarily lucrative, just a one-year deal for the minimum. Brown missed eight games last year after a broken leg in the preseason and the Texans needed depth so it works out. It is a “prove it” deal of sorts.

In the eight games he did play Brown rushed for 492 yards, which isn’t bad and would come out to just under 1,000 yards on the season had he been healthy. He rushed for a solid, but not dazzling, 3.5 yards per carry last season. Behind Foster he might be able to find the success Tate did.
